Is your healing location based?

Is your healing location based?

When I moved to Mexico 2 years ago, where I knew no one, it was an intentional exercise in fully trusting the Universe - God.

I wanted to practice opening and sitting in my heart, throat and root chakras by; allowing and receiving new people and love, sharing in a vulnerable and transparent way, trusting I’m safe and secure. Also, to further explore humanity and the Black experience within a different landscape.

When I meet other travelers or expats, we are usually vibrating at similar frequencies as it takes a certain type of person to move to another country, so I found it effortless to connect, spark intimate conversations and deepen connections while living in Mexico. That was the most open I had ever been in my life, at that point.

However, moving back to NY was difficult, because NY can be a difficult place. I initially found it hard to: have that same vulnerability amongst so many different energies, maintain my rituals due to increased daily triggers and stressors, and find a like minded spiritual community that sticks. But NY is the perfect place to practice and build a solid spiritual muscle because it will consistently try you lol even being in a relationship was harder because, in my opinion, NY is not the most conducive to finding and sustaining romantic love - it is an unnatural place for opportunity and collecting your coin!

But Mexico always returns me to Love! Being in nature naturally brings me to a place of gratitude; grounded with my feet in the sand, energized and humbled by the ocean, invigorated by the sun - there are so many blatant opportunities to feel free and give thanks. As there are in so many places around the world, but Mexico is special to me.

So much so, subtle limiting thoughts began to pop in my head like, “Is Mexico the only place I can find love, the only place I can find a like minded community of people, the only place I can grow, heal and eat healthy, the only place I can truly design the life I want to live?” But I knew this consciously was not true. I had to intentionally remind myself that all of this love, beauty, connection, freedom, and gratitude could exist for me anywhere. Though some of the above are more easily attainable in certain places more than others. I just had to be more diligent in discovering it and where it didn’t exist, creating it…for myself and for others. I now walk with all of my lessons, peace and stillness, while creating community and home wherever I am.

There are many people I have spoken with who flee America due to it’s inherent problems, or their own personal problems but as we learn, problems are everywhere. The goal is to not run from them but see them as opportunities to create solutions. To become the solution architect of our lives and create happiness and healing no matter where we’re located.

Which route do you take? Are you running from problems or creating solutions?

This is always my recommendation to those who seek: Yes, a new environment can be a great reset in life but ensure the goal is not to escape, but to cultivate an inner/outer-standing and peace so strong, you get to a point that no where and no one on earth can diminish it. That is the muscle I am intentional on building daily, and it’s pretty dang strong, y’all.

This visit to Mexico really illuminated the fact that I am a true alchemized version of myself.
