Iceland

Iceland 1 Day Itinerary below

The Land of Fire & Ice is right! Iceland is one of the most unique countries I’ve ever been to in terms of landscapes. It can be freezing, raining and gloomy with snow and massive glaciers. However, you will find countless hot springs, volcanoes and geysers, the range is miraculous!

I only was able to experience one day in this beautifully diverse country, which is great because I have an excuse to come back! But boy, in this one day, I saw SO much. It also helped that I had 24 hours of sunlight due to Summer Solstice :) The Northern Lights Hotel was the perfect stay as they are only 20 mins from the airport. You can arrange for a taxi to bring you to the hotel once you land for a discounted rate. They also have free shuttles that take you to and from the Blue Lagoon, as it’s only 5 minutes away.

TRIP HACK: If going to London, it is often times cheaper to fly to Iceland first.

My first stop in the morning was, of course, the famous Blue Lagoon, which is an outdoor geo-thermal spa in an 800 year old lava filed. This was such a highlight; being able to leave the freezing cold and jump into 100 degree geothermal seawater! We also had a complimentary drink and a clay face mask from the minerals in the Lagoon, I was in heaven! We stayed about 2 hours, then headed back to the hotel to arrange a taxi to take us around Reykjanes, an UNESCO Global Geo-park area with many attractions. Reykjanes is on the way to the airport so I would try to fit all the stops in before you head to catch your flight, since you are only there for ONE day. See the itinerary below for the stops we made. But the top two to prioritze is Lake Kleifarvatn -breathtaking and adding a love lock to the Bridge Between Continents!
